How it Started
Gain Line Ventures' co-founders began their investment journey within a multi-asset family office that traditionally focused on medical real estate investments and property management. In 2015, the family office began participating in venture capital deals in Boston and Silicon Valley. With experience and interest building up, Gain Line was established in 2018 to serve as a vehicle for the co-founders to begin their own investment strategy and deals, while still contributing to the family office. In 2020, they helped establish a $40 million private equity fund focusing on industrials, technology, and healthcare. Gain Line continues to invest in early-stage venture, small market operational businesses, and real estate deals from its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In rugby, the gain line is the imaginary line across the pitch which the attacking team is always striving to cross. Breaking the gain line is the purest indicator of successful offensive attack and the team moves forward. Just as in rugby, working towards a gain line in our investments and operations gives us incremental achievements towards our overarching goals.
